Wineries
We’d encourage you to experience some wine tastings while you’re in Napa! Even for those abstaining, it is a special way to enjoy the outdoors and the views. Be sure to make reservations in advance, as places can book up.
Davis Estates: This winery is close to Calistoga and offers beautiful views of the vineyards from their hillside property. They also offer small bites with their wine tastings, which is fairly unique.
Alpha Omega: This winery is one of the Anderson’s favorites. They have beautiful views, a large fountain, and some of Tom’s favorite wines in the valley.
Frog's Leap Winery: The first winery we ever visited together so it holds a special place for us. Their wine is wonderful too, be sure to try the Zinfindel
Nickel & Nickel: This is a beautiful winery located right in Oakville. The property is stunning & all their reds are delicious
Enjoy the Hot Springs
Many of the hotels and inns in and around Calistoga offer access to their on-site mineral pools, including Dr. Wilkinson’s Backyard Resort, Calistoga Spa Hot Springs, Solage, and Golden Haven Hot Springs Spa & Resort. You can also check out the historic, Olympic-sized mineral pool at Indian Springs Resort. Hotel guests get free access to the pool, Indian Springs does offer limited day passes for a fee, which is available when booking a spa treatment.
Explore Downtown Calistoga and St. Helena
Calistoga, offers a charming downtown and a more relaxed and romantic atmosphere, perfect for exploring wine country's more unique side. It feels a bit “western” in spirit. Calistoga is also known for its hot springs and spas, so there are plenty of opportunities for mud baths or relaxing spa treatments. Just a short 15 minute drive away, St. Helena has more of an upscale vibe, lots of great clothing boutiques, art galleries, and a vibrant culinary scene featuring acclaimed restaurants like Goose & Gander and Model Bakery. Both towns are worth checking out and exploring!
